CONTEST:-
The Compherensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBT) has invited INDIA to become an "Observers" With Access to international monitaring system data. So it can taken a informed decision on ratifying a much-debated Nuclear disarmament Treaty.
BENEFITS OF BECOMING AN OBSERVER:-
India can benefit immensely from becoming a CTBT observer as the Organisation setting has changed a lot over the year. India will have access to the data available which was traditionally not made available.
INDIA AND CTBT:-
# India has not signed CTBT till date.
# India want's the CTBT to have a clause on complete Nuclear disarmament in a time-bound manner because there are technological difference between the 'have' and 'have not' Countries.
ABOUT CTBT:-
# The comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) is the treaty banning all Nuclear explosions everywhere, by everyone.
# The treaty was negotiated at the conference on Disarmament in Geneva and adopted by the United Nation General Assembly.
# It opened for signature of 24 September 1996.
# China , the democratic people's Republic of Korea , Egypt , India , Indonesia , Iran , Israel , Pakistan , and United States. India , North Korea and Pakistan have not yet signed the Treaty.
